There’s No Place like Home Travel Photo Contest

Stonebridge Ranch residents are widely traveled, and many are looking forward to summer vacations in exotic places. The Communications Committee hopes you'll want to take along a copy of the Stonebridge Ranch News for leisure reading! Here's a chance to show just how far afield your travels take you—and perhaps to win the cover shot on the October 2018 issue of Stonebridge Ranch News!

  1. Eligibility.  To enter, you must be a Stonebridge Ranch resident.
  2. Submission.  Send us a picture of yourself (or a member of your Stonebridge Ranch household) from your travels this year. You must be holding up the April 2018 issue or later of Stonebridge Ranch New Magazine in the picture, so be sure your copy of the magazine is visible. Along with the cover of the magazine, something recognizable from your travels must be visible as well so our judges can verify your location (i.e. city name sign, distinctive building, landmark, etc.). You may submit no more than one (1) photo, so send us your very best! The photo must be provided in high-quality, digital format (.jpg, .png or PDF). Low-quality or pixelated images will not be considered.
  3. How to Enter.  Email Erica Lee, Communications Coordinator at by Friday, August 24 with the subject line, “Travel Photo Contest.” The entry should include the submitter’s name and contact info (address to verify SBR residency along with email and phone), as well as a short narrative description of the photo (date, location, people in the photo, and any trip details you’d like to share with your fellow Stonebridge Ranch News readers). If you have difficulty emailing your picture, please email Erica or stop by the Association office (6201 Virginia Parkway) and she’ll provide assistance.
  4. Winner Selection.  The entries will be judged by the Communications Committee in two categories. One winner will be identified by determining which picture was taken the furthest distance from McKinney. The distance will be calculated on as the air distance from McKinney, TX to the location in the picture. (The website database is pretty extensive; if your travel location isn’t in it, we’ll attempt to determine the nearest location in the database to use. If it's a really obscure location, give us a little help by explaining what it's close to, but make sure there's something in the picture we can identify.) The second winner will be chosen as the cover photo to be used on the October 2018 issue of Stonebridge Ranch News magazine. The cover shot photo will be judged based on its composition and quality. We can’t wait to see some truly awe-inspiring images! Just be sure that both a cover of this magazine and a resident member of your household is visible in the photo. Pro tip:  note the horizontal sizing of our cover. Wide-angle or panoramic photos make for a difficult fit and might not be cover-worthy because of the spacing limitations.
  5. Be a good sport. It’s no fair Photoshopping yourself at the South Pole. The Committee also reserves the right to declare no winner in either category, or to declare the furthest traveler as being also the winner of the cover shot category.
  6. Contact. We will notify the winners by Monday, Sept. 17.
  7. Prize. The winners’ photos will be published in the October 2018 issue of the Stonebridge Ranch News, and each will be awarded a $20 Visa gift card. If layout space in the October 2018 issue allows, other photos submitted by resident travelers will also be included as honorable mentions. All entries will also be published in a digital photo gallery at this website. Entrants will not receive any monetary compensation nor any other prize award.
Agreement. By emailing an entry as part of this contest, you grant SRCA permission without restriction to use your photo, name and travel story in the Stonebridge Ranch News magazine and/or in collateral communications such as SRCA email blasts, this website, flyers, etc.
